Franz Ferdinand opening for Green Day

I suspect the deal was sealed on April 15 in downtown Oakland, when Green Day played at the Uptown and Franz Ferdinand played across the street that Fox. After the shows, they probably met up at Cafe Van Kleef and discussed their next big show together. The tickets for this event goes on sale at Live Nation this Saturday at 10am.

Grand Duchy

Frank Black and his wife did a nice show at the Uptown last night. Good fun.

I just can't help wanting to hear old Pixies or solo Frank Black stuff when watching them. They had a few good new songs like 'Fort Wayne', but mostly I wanted to hear 'Los Angeles' or 'Debaser'... guess thats what the Pixies tour is for!

The Killers @ the Shoreline Sept 12

I can't believe they are coming back to town. Their latest album "Day and Age" is my #1 right now. Their live show in NYC got a great review from the New York Times. I'll post more on them when I have some more time. Any way, the tickets goes on presale tomorrow at 10am. Tickets available to the public on May 9 at 10am. Shoreline sucks if you are on the lawn. But if you can get seats in the first 10 or 50 rows, it kills. Get it? Killers. Kills. I have to get those awesome seats!

Click HERE for presale starting at 10am May 7. password is "vegas". Although note, sometimes they only put the lawn tickets on presale, so if you want the good seats, you'd have to wait until 10am on May 9.

Harlem Shakes @ Bimbo's May 26

Well, they are opening for Passion Pit.

Jarvis Cocker @ the Fillmore July 28

Pulp front man Jarvis Cocker is coming to the the Fillmore. This is the third time he's in town. We saw him a couple of years ago when his first solo album "Jarvis" was released. He didn't play any of the pulp songs which was a bit of a disappointment. But, it's Jarvis. He puts on a great show and how can one miss it? His second solo album "Further Complications" is due to be released on May 18th. The tickets for his show at the Fillmore goes on pre-sale May 9, and to the public on May 10. Gotta go see him.

Pulp was my favorite bit pop band in the 90s. I practically lived on Common People. Their show at The First Avenue in Minneapolis in 1996 is still one of the best shows ever for me. Talk about living in the past.

The Vasalines @ Bimbo's May 11

Bimbo's is propmoting this show. I believe there are still tickets.

The Vaselines have long been celebrated by musicians and music enthusiasts across genres and across the globe, including super-fan Kurt Cobain. The group was formed in Scotland in 1987 by singers/guitarists Eugene Kelly and Frances McKee. They released two short EPs: "Son of a Gun” and "Dying for It", which featured the songs 'Molly's Lips' and 'Jesus Doesn't Want Me For a Sunbeam', both of which Nirvana covered. In 1989 they released their only album, “Dum-Dum”. The band broke up shortly after its release. The Vaselines reunited for an appearance at Sub Pop’s 20th anniversary festival last summer. That show and the handful of dates that led up to it were The Vaselines first-ever US shows.

On a separate note, Kurt Cobain died April 5, 1994. That's 15 years ago. Time flies.
