Frank Black @ the Uptown - May 6

That's that tiny club just across the street from the Fox in uptown Oakland. People are proclaiming this to be Pixie's founder Frank Black's best solo project yet! Grand Duchy is the name of the brand new project featuring Black and his wife Violet Clark. Grand Duchy's album was engineered by Jason Carter and Thaddeus Moore and is named "Petits Fours". This is the bands' only Bay Area date as they prepare to head to the UK for the Isel of Wight Festival next month!

Welcome to Paradise!

Top 5 reasons why the Green Day's performance at the Fox last night was the show of a life time!

5. It was a home show! Right on Telegraph Ave. This is where these guys come from. It's their home! What better place to showcase their new album!
4. The Fox theatre is Stunning, possibily the best venue in the bay area now. It's much smaller than you think.
3. They were recording the entire show. There were cameras everywhere. I am convinced that I am going to be in the next Green Day video!
2. They played their entire new album plus loads of old hits. Total of two and half hours of fabulous live music. They are great performers with enough punk rock energy to keep the entire floor dancing.
1. I got to see them from 20 feet away!

The only downside, they are going to make Franz Ferdinand sound like sissies tongiht. Now, enjoy some photos from the show last night.

Green Day @ the Fox TONIGHT!

To continue their surprise concert tour, Green Day will play tonight at the beautifully restored Fox Theater in downtown Oakland. Last week, they played at the Independent, and the DNA lounge. In the two previous shows, they played their entire new album "21st Century Breakdown" plus all the old favorites. I can't wait to see these east bay boys play at home!

The Rakes @ Popscene - April 2 (TONIGHT!)

The Rakes may be one of the BEST and most dynamic UK post-punk acts to emerge out of England this decade, make the trek to San Francisco for a show over @ popscene tonight. If you are a fan of the Strokes or Franz Ferdinand, you'd love them. Their latest album the Klang has received favorable reviews from the Guardian. This is their third album and was recorded in Berlin. Listen to: We Danced Together for yourself.

U2 - No Line on the Horizon

The latest New Yorker reviewed U2's latest album.

"This album is a long dinner with old friends, all of whom love each other, most of whom are born talkers, and some of whom hold the floor for too long. Not every anecdote holds up, and some of the food belongs, untouched, on the edge of your plate. But it would be small-minded to leave before the whole warm, rambling night is over."

I thought that was hilarious and had to share with you. I do like the album.
